 The 'W' sentence

Try starting you sentence with a 'W' word. There sentences make your work sound thoughtful and knowlegable.

Remember the rule:not every 'W' word works as a sentence starter. Remember to put your comma in when the parts of the sentence affected by your 'W' are finished.

Some 'W' words you can use: who, while, whilst, whereas, when, where, what, with, wham

Example:

-Whilst the teacher was talking, the students were pretending to listen.

-With a majority of the votes, hitler seized power.

-When the bell rings, we run to leave class.

-Whilst doing my work, I was listening to the teacher aswell

-When the car started, it made a loud noise.

-With all our materials, we sat down and stated doing our work

The 'ing' sentence

Try starting a sentence the 'ing' form of the verb. Swimming

Remember the rule: When you have a finished 'ing' phase, place a comma, then write the rest of the sentence.

Some words you can use: Listening, watching, running, reacting, realizing, emerging, grasping, speaking, analising, signalling, exposing

Examples:

-Realizing the danger, people fled from the cities

-Shaking away the nerves, he approached the microwave

-Emerging from the water, the swimmer was greeted with cheers

-Analising the board, the children worked out the math problems

-Realizing what I just did, i slowly freaked out

-Grasping the chair, I put it on the top of the desk as we packed our stuff up ready to leave
