Relationships (a page long essay)
In this essay I am addressing 3 different relationships in the movie hunt for the wilderness. In each paragraph
We right about how they felt in all parts of the movie and one type of shot they use often in that section of the film.
Uncle Hec and Ricky Baker-
At first Uncle Hec and Ricky Baker didn't really get along, they barely talked to each other, they never physically
interacted, they always were a really far distance apart and they would only ever talk to each other if they had to.
For example a camera shot that supported the scene was the Long shot made them look distant and very far
away from eachother. Then around the middle they started to talk more, they started getting a bit closer to
each other in the films and they would talk to each other when they didn't really need to. A shot they used a
medium to show that they are close enough to be in the same shot but Uncle Hec and Ricky aren't standing
exactly next to each other. At the end Uncle Hec and Ricky were so close that they had to hunt and live out
in the forest together and survive, they would talk to each other around every ten minutes and they would
get on quite well. A shot they used at times was the close up shot, they were so close together
Aunt Bella and Ricky Baker-
At the start Aunt Bella and Ricky didn't have a very good relationship because Aunt Bella was trying to make
Ricky feel like he's at home and he fits in and he would not talk to her at all. And it was hard for them to have
a good relationship together because Aunt Bella was trying to be nice and Ricky was just rejecting her. For
example was a medium shot because it showed Aunt Bella and Ricky standing fairly close with lots of space
and scenery around them. Towards the middle they began to have a lot of trust in each other and they would
talk to each other, but unfortunately Aunt Bella passed away. In the middle they used close up shots of aunt
bella and Ricky together. You could tell that Ricky must have liked her because he got quite sad that she had
passed away. Towards the end Ricky really missed and loved Aunt Bella and he wishes Aunt Bella was still
there with them. Unfortunately there were no shots of Aunt Bella and Ricky because in the middle of the
movie Aunt Bella passed away.
Ricky and Tupac (his dog)
At the start when Ricky got gifted his dog Tupac for his 13th birthday he was very excited and loved him very much,
they would go almost everywhere together. For example there were very close up shots of Tupac and Ricky because
they had a close bond and they loved each other very much. Towards the middle of the movie they still loved each
other so much and their trust with each other just kept building and building, Tupac would never leave Ricky’s side,
and if he did he would come right back. In the middle of the movie the shots were basically the same as the start
of the movie. Towards the end they had a very strong relationship between Ricky and his dog almost as if they were
inseparable. The shots at the end we're close up shots almost every time Tupac and Ricky were together.

Fantastic essay, Lily!
ReplyDeleteYou've analyzed different parts of the relationship and have used techniques to support.
To improve you could explain what the different techniques tell us about the relationship with more details.
